The 2013 floating season for the Boise River got underway this past Friday.
City officials are warning floaters that the water is cold and dangerous this year.
Thousands of floaters take to the Boise River and each floating season includes numerous instances requiring rescues.
Hypothermia, unmarked hazards such as tree snags, alcohol, and inadequate raft equipment are among the common causes for floaters getting into trouble.
Amazingly, people float the river in inner tubes and thin plastic rafts with no life jackets!
If you’re planning to float the river, take precautions and be safe!
