National Housing Starts: Best Since 2008
2012 seasonally-adjusted U.S. new-housing starts were the highest since 2008, with 954,000 new housing starts.
That was up 36.9% from 2011’s 780,000 starts.
December 2012 numbers were up too.
Here’s how the four U.S. regions fared in December.
- Midwest: +24.7%
- Northeast: +21.4%
- South: +3.8%
- West: +18.7%
Even better, permits for future home construction increased to 903,000 ~ the largest number since 2008.
