Fake Fannie Press Release About Principal Reductions
Several media outlets received a fake press release on Fannie Mae letterhead recently, announcing a new FNMA (Fannie Mae) principal reduction program.
The fictional “HomeRight Community Relief Program” mentioned in the release included a phone number for FNMA with a Georgia area code; not Washington, D.C., where FNMA headquarters is located.
Fannie Mae is not offering principal reductions.
Not surprisingly, various groups protested at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac offices around the county this past week, demanding for principal reductions.
