The RE/MAX Balloon Visits Boise!

Yesterday was one of those rare days when I was up at 5:00 a.m. and at Ann Morrison Park by 6:00 a.m. to capture some images of the balloons lifting off at dawn.

The grass was wet, the air was crisp, and the sunrise gorgeous as the balloonists began arriving.

Little did I know that this would soon turn into a working day vs. being a spectator.

I spotted the RE/MAX balloon trailer and introduced myself to the pilot Danny Stam and his wife Kathy, who eagerly invited me to join their crew.

Yesterday was media day and our passenger for the day was KTVB 7 news anchor Scott Evans, who was busy shooting video and interviewing onlookers and the crew.

My initial duties included helping unpack, set up, and inflate the balloon.

Then, after launch, I joined the chase crew as we followed the balloon around Southeast Boise until it landed on a narrow tree-lined street just off Broadway Avenue.

How Danny ever managed to land that enormous balloon on that narrow street, I will never know!

My final tasks included helping steady the balloon while Danny let the air out and helping pack up the balloon.

My reward?

Danny has offered me a ride in the balloon before the festival ends Sunday.

Stay tuned for more on this!

Here are a few shots I managed to capture along the way.
