Does Living Near WalMart Affect The Value of Your Home?
There’s a study out, apparently done by people who have way too much time on their hands, that analyzes the effects of owning a home near a Walmart store.
The study assessed more than one million housing transactions including homes located near 159 Walmarts to test the assumption that opening a WalMart lowers home values.
The results?
Analysis revealed that properties located near a new Walmart store actually increased in value due to having good (?) shopping nearby.
The study also identified what they labeled “negative externalities” (izzat a word???), which in plain English, translates to increased traffic, more crime, noise and light pollution, etc.
Walmart currently operates more than 4,400 retail facilities that employ nearly 1.4 million people in the U.S.
