A Walgreen’s On Every Corner

Seems like there’s a Walgreen’s on every corner anymore.

I was curious how many Walgreen’s stores there are in the Treasure Valley, so I did a little research.

The results?

21 stores in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Nampa, and Caldwell.

Digging deeper, I found the official Walgreen’s store count, which indicates that they have 39 stores in Idaho and 7,855 stores across the U.S.

Most of the stores are of similar design, but some (like the one in Eagle, shown above) have enhanced exterior design features.

The City of Eagle even convinced Walgreen’s to keep the old heritage trees.

I have been in a few of these stores over the past few years and have never seen a lot of customers.

That makes me wonder how they can justify having such a heavy presence, given the cost of building and operating that many stores.

Perhaps dispensing legal drugs may have something to do with it? :)

Interestingly, they have 851 stores in Florida and 248 in Arizona, both of which are popular states for retirees.

    Good post Phil :)

I have wondered the exact same things as you about Walgreens. Interesting facts about their presence. Thanks…
